 USM Symphony Food Drive

March 22-29, 2009

The University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra is sponsoring a food drive in partnership with Feeding America. The food drive is in conjunction with the jazz orchestra concert, “Over the Rainbow”, scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 7:30 p.m. at the Saenger Theater in downtown Hattiesburg.  The Mississippi Food Network, the Feeding America affiliate in Mississippi, has designated the food pantry at Edwards Street Fellowship Center to receive the donations.

The Edwards Street Fellowship Food Pantry

Bins for depositing food items will be available at the Saenger Theater during HUBfest and the night of the concert. During the week of March 22-29, canned and packaged food items may be dropped in a bin located at the east drive-thru entrance of Parkway Heights United Methodist Church.

We are deeply appreciative of the efforts of the USM Symphony Orchestra and the support of the community.  Items which we need on a weekly basis are:

  • canned vegetables, fruits, soups and meats
  • packaged bread mixes
  • dried beans
  • grits
  • pasta
  • cereal
  • rice

Welcome

Established in 1979 as an outreach ministry of the Hattiesburg District of the Mississippi Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, Edwards Street Fellowship Center serves an urban community on the southeast side of Hattiesburg.  The community consists of persons of diverse ages, races, and stages of life.  The ministry is centered on the commitment to strengthening families and individuals by providing resources and support for growth and by recognizing and meeting special needs.

The ministry of ESFC is made possible through the financial contributions of the Missisippi Annual Conference, area churches, individuals and volunteers.
